Accessibility

Ramp

At Gateacre Chapel we are always working to be as welcoming and accessible to as many people as possible. As our building is over 300 years old we are limited as to the changes and adaptions we can make, but don't think that means we are completely inaccessible to everyone with a disability. We have ramps which can be placed over the three steps which provide access to the chapel, thus making the building accessible to anyone using a wheelchair, walker or pushchair. We also have a hearing loop installed for those who have a 'T' switch on their hearing aids. Unfortunately, our toilet in the chapel is not wheelchair accessible, but we are next door to several establishments which do have accessible toilets and are happy for chapel goers to use their facilities. Chapel staff and members will be happy to point you in the direction of any of these facilities if they are needed.

At Gateacre Chapel, we are also very aware of invisible disabilities. Advance order of services are available upon request and quieter areas of the chapel away from other members of the congregation are available. Our chapel leaders have completed training with dementia friends as well as autism awareness and mental health first aid.

If you have any questions about accessibility or visiting our chapel with a disability, please do not hesitate to contact our chapel leader via the contact us section on our website.
